BS8599-1 Travel Kits

For all businesses in the UK, including individuals that are self-employed, responsibility for making “adequate provision” does not end at the office or factory exit. Employees who are mobile, working away from base, or for any other reason are engaged in company business while out and about, must be included when making first aid provisions.

These kits all share identical content but are offered in different styles of containers to suit individual needs. Each kit contains the basic essentials that should be “readily available” to employees who are tasked with working in any situation away from base. Particularly appropriate for use in HGV’s, vans, trucks, and regular cars in commercial use.

BS8599-2 British Standard for Vehicle First Aid Kits

Using the latest data, including accident and research statistics used in F1 racing car design, industrial and medical professionals have produced a new standard to meet the medical needs of road traffic victims during the critical period prior to the arrival of the Emergency Services. Components have been specifically selected for ease of use, and for coping with (without any special training), both minor and major road traffic accident injuries. To account for various types of vehicle and passenger carrying capability, the BS8599-2 kit is available in three sizes. Whether a motorcycle, bus, van, or double-decker bus, there is a suitable kit. The size and the quantity of kits for any vehicle are determined by the vehicle type and passenger numbers.
